MATERIC.ORG art space and radical pedagogy, was born in 2015 in an industrial warehouse in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. In these years we hosted and cultivated the 22cubic artistic residencies, a radical pedagogy program and various artistic exhibitions. After five years in that peripheral luminous temple, in 2020 we took flight towards nomadism. Without having a physical space, collaborations expanded from the local to the international. We co-created performance festivals such as MAR DE ISLAS (Caribbean), Continuo Latidoamericano de Performance (Latin America, USA and Europe) and ARTefACTe (Catalunya), we offered a radical pedagogy that questioned virtuality and we welcomed audiovisual performance proposals. After this nomadic becoming, in 2024 we found a nest of complicities in the space of the Convent de Sant Agustí in Barcelona. From this medieval space we now return to the 22cubic artistic residences, offering the Capelles del Convent as a place for performance creation.

After our transition and becoming nomadic (read note) where we have been expanding imaginaries, expanded family, inventing and experimenting from delicious places full of necessary (un)learning, we declare that we are now living in a new physicality.

We open a new crack in reality, we open new portals to other worlds that are the art of performance, of action and inaction art. Located in the Capelles del Convent de Sant Agustí in Barcelona we once again caress the wind, we once again wrap ourselves between walls, we whisper to the stones, we move with the historical cracks that leave their mark on the path.

They have been wonderful years, since 2015 when we opened up to share heartbeats in an industrial space in the peripheral L’H, from our nomadisms through other seas and lands we now land among rocks that make up and tell us about past stories in the Medieval Barcelona. In this framework, Les Capelles del Convent, we open this new portal and space with our hearts beating, and looking at the horizon. The action returns to the same situated space and with it the art of performance, the unexpected, the inexplicable, the livable, the real, the subversive, the monstrous, the delicate, the subtle, the grotesque, the doubt, the inaccuracy, the error transformed into collective poetry. From everything we grow, we walk and cross labyrinths.

MATERIC.ORG once again finds a root-nest from which to clothe, give warmth and provide extreme care to those who do to undo what is imposed. We remain focused and attentive towards the willingness to break the imposed and established learning through the art of performance, the art of action or inaction.

We announce that 22cubic artistic residency is on the move. There are currently two artists in residence at Les Capelles del Convent, giving and receiving creative warmth within its stony walls. On June 25, 2024 we will open the doors of these creation processes to be able to experience an afternoon of performance together.
